RAVINE, operating under JFS Agro Food (Pvt) Ltd, is a pioneer in the agricultural sector, offering a diverse range of high-quality products that meet international standards. Our focus is on creating value-added products using finger millet and Sri Lankan spices such as Ceylon cinnamon, Black Pepper, etc., for both local and global markets. Since its inception in 2020, RAVINE has strategically navigated despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis. As a result, we have introduced a range of innovative products to enhance consumer perception and convenience along with gluten-free flour alternatives to traditional wheat-based products, catering to the needs of health-conscious individuals and those with specific dietary requirements.

Our growth is rooted in strong values that prioritize the protection of the environment, ecosystem, farmers, and the community. Our goal is to bring pride to Sri Lanka through the provision of top-quality agricultural products.

To further expand our reach, RAVINE plans to introduce new products to the market and expand beyond Sri Lanka and the South Asian Diasporas with finger millet and Sri Lankan spice products. Having already made our mark in New Zealand and the USA, we’re now poised to satisfy the increasing demand for natural and premium food products in markets like the Gulf, Australia, the EU, and Canada.

Our manufacturing plant is over 10,000 sq. ft located at Handapangoda, Sri Lanka. Today, the company is associated with high-quality standards and authenticity that cater to the custom requirements of wholesale and retail buyers across the world. This includes state-of-the-art production facilities to produce and process high-quality whole and ground spices according to the requirements specified by the customers around the world. Quality assurance is dealt with a great concern at each step, from raw material harvesting to the dispatching of the finished product. Each step is carefully monitored to prevent anything that could jeopardize the products. We encompass the expertise in carefully selecting the best spices and the company is accountable for the products it exports. The management along with the skilled workforce thrives their best to bring the business to the next level by establishing more transparent and practical approaches toward satisfying the customers.

RAVINE is committed to delivering gluten free products of exceptional safety and excellence, as evidenced by our recent achievement of the prestigious GMP certification. This underscores our dedication to quality, which knows no bounds.  

In addition, RAVINE is on the verge of a significant export opportunity facilitated by the Export Development Board (EDB), Sri Lanka. The EDB is actively pursuing Geographical Indication (GI) for Ceylon Cinnamon within the EU, and RAVINE, as a reputed company, meet all the required product specifications and manufacturing standards outlined in the GI document, and will be privileged to export Ceylon Cinnamon to the EU under the distinguished “Ceylon Cinnamon” name, adding a prestigious edge to our offerings.  

Innovations in Product Development

RAVINE is committed to innovation in the agricultural sector, particularly in the development of finger millet-based products. Finger millet is a super-grain packed with nutrients and low in calories, yet its consumption has been limited due to the scarcity of finger millet-incorporated products in local and international markets. To address this, JFS has established a dedicated R&D unit to create new products and processes that will enhance the global consumption of finger millet. 

Traditionally, coarse-grade finger millet flour has been the main product in the market. However, JFS’s R&D unit has observed that this flour does not perform well when used in authentic Sri Lankan finger millet-based products such as porridge and Thalapa. To overcome this, we have introduced fine-grade finger millet flour with a smaller particle size, making it suitable for smooth-textured products like porridge, Thalapa, and string hoppers. 

We have also introduced Kurakkan mixed String Hopper Flour, which incorporates finger millet flour into rice flour, making it more convenient for consumers to prepare string hoppers. Also, as a solution to the current economic crisis, we have introduced coarse grade and fine grade flour to the market at a more affordable price for consumers. 

Furthermore, our commitment to innovation extends beyond product development. We’ve forged partnerships with the University Business Linkage Cell (UBLC) at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka to create export-oriented Kurakkan-based instant food products. This initiative will not only promote healthier food choices, but also expands RAVINE’s global market presence, paving the way for new avenues of growth and impact.
